Understanding the shared responsibility model

Your cloud provider secures the platform. You're still responsible for a great deal more than most teams assume.

Cloud providers invest heavily in securing the underlying infrastructure: physical data centres, hardware, and core platform services. That's their side of the shared responsibility model.

Your organisation remains responsible for how those services are configured: identity and access management, network configuration, data classification, and application-level security. Misconfiguration, not platform failure, is one of the most common sources of cloud security incidents.

Understanding exactly where the provider's responsibility ends and yours begins is a foundational step in any cloud security strategy.
